Focused riding – Backcountry & Park weeks
We are now really pleased to present our focused riding weeks, ready for the coming 2011/12 season. These weeks are designed to encourage you to be a creative rider whilst riding safe and having fun, to build confidence, push limits and overall, learn to enjoy the whole mountain. We cover either FreeRide Backcountry or FreeStyle Park so if your looking to find some fresh powder lines or to drop through the park with style, you have the answer right here! We have the highest trained instructors ready to lead you to the next level of riding. With progressive learning and quality riding time we’ll help you on your chosen path. Each focus will run over 2 levels – BACKCOUNTRY Level 1 : Introduction to Backcountry Riding & Equipment. Mountain safety and awareness. Level 2 : Backcountry Riding & Technical Improvement. Mountain safety and awareness. PARK Level 1 : Park Introduction & Ground School Tricks. Level 2 : Park Style – Jumps & Rails. Backcountry Want to get away from the bustle of lifts and people? Fancy the off-piste snow with the safety and comfort offered by a professional guide? Looking for an alternative to the park? Our backcountry weeks are designed for snowboarders looking for the next step or a new direction to their riding. The use of split boards will open your eyes to what is now possible on a snowboard and take you to some of the best kept secrets in the 3 Valleys. We are very proud to announce our sponsorship by ‘VOILE’ the mountain leaders in split board technology; equipment bred purely for this job! At both levels the instruction covers 3 bases – • Learn about powder and off piste tactics • Train with split board & avalanche safety equipment • Develop mountain awareness AIM – Get more riders into the backcountry with a sound knowledge of safety and awareness to enjoy the whole mountain. Our fun and informative park sessions build confidence to get you using freestyle tricks and movements around the mountain. Meribel’s extensive park areas offer riders a diverse package of freestyle apparatus, all marked for difficulty and set out for riders to get the most from each run. The famous ‘Moon Park’ and ‘Plattieres Park’ both boast an array of kickers, rails, boxes and hits. Both parks groom regularly and include learner friendly box rails to aid novice riders. Level 1 : Park Introduction & Ground School Tricks Aimed at - Park never-evers. Looking to learn good pre-park skills & feel confident entering the park later in the week. Level 2 : Park style – Jumps & Rails (follow on course from Park Intro) Aimed at - Riders looking to consolidate and increase park skills. Looking to learn clean air, grabs, go bigger, mini rotations & hit rails with confidence. AIM – To encourage a diverse rider that is creative with their environment.
